Question 1

How does ThermaVein work?

Accepted Answer

ThermaVein uses a micro-current of heat delivered through a fine probe to close the tiny vein. The treatment is precise and targeted.

Question 2

Is ThermaVein painful?

Accepted Answer

Most patients describe the sensation as a quick warm prick or small zap. ThermaVein treatments are very well tolerated, and no anaesthetic is required.

Question 3

How long does a session take?

Accepted Answer

A typical session lasts 15 to 30 minutes depending on the number of veins being treated.

Question 4

How soon will I see results?

Accepted Answer

Many veins fade quickly after ThermaVein treatment, while others may fade gradually over a few days to weeks. Results vary between patients.

Question 5

How many sessions will I need?

Accepted Answer

Many patients see noticeable improvement after one session. Complex or widespread veins may need 2 to 3 sessions, and maintenance may be recommended if rosacea is present.

Question 6

Are there any side effects?

Accepted Answer

Side effects are usually minimal and temporary: mild redness, localised warmth, tiny crusting or dryness, and slight swelling. These typically settle within a few hours to a few days.

Question 7

Can ThermaVein treat leg thread veins?

Accepted Answer

ThermaVein is only suitable for very tiny leg veins. For leg thread veins, microsclerotherapy is usually the preferred treatment.

Question 8

What aftercare is required?

Accepted Answer

Avoid makeup and heat such as hot showers, saunas and steam rooms for 24 hours, apply SPF 30+ daily, avoid intense exercise for the first 24 hours and be gentle with the skin.
